Health Hero Series #2

Consume nuts and seeds

Some people avoid nuts because they are high in fat. However, nuts and seeds are incredibly nutritious. They are packed with protein, fiber, and a variety of vitamins and minerals.

Nuts may help you lose weight and reduce the risk of developing type 2 diabetes and heart disease.

Additionally, one large observational study noted that a low intake of nuts and seeds was potentially linked to an increased risk of death from heart disease, stroke, or type 2 diabetes

Pili Nuts

Touted as the highest fat nut on the planet, pili nuts are being promoted by ketogenic and paleo diet followers and vegans who look for natural food sources high in fat and low in carbs.

Pili nuts, also known as Pacific almonds, are nuts that come from the fruit of the pili tree, native to Northern Australia, the Pacific Islands and Southeast Asia. The majority of large scale cultivation is in the Philippines.

Pili is a complete protein powerhouse and is buttery in taste and has a long shelf life.
