OVP to launch apprenticeship program for out-of-school youth

The Office of the Vice President (OVP) will roll out an apprenticeship program for some 400 out-of-school youth, Vice President Leni Robredo said Sunday.

Robredo announced that the OVP partnered with USAID and McDonald’s, among other organizations, to provide jobs to out-of-school youth aged 18 to 30.

“Ito, may training muna. Pero iyong training, mayroon siyang matatanggap na allowance, and after noong training, may sigurado siyang mapapasukan as an apprentice,” the Vice President said in her weekly radio show.

The apprenticeship program is the third part of the OVP’s BAYANIHANAPBUHAY initiative, following the Sikap.PH job portal and Iskaparate.com website for sellers who are unable to offer their products online.
