A Family’s Journey from Home Kitchen to Marketplace

Baking Duck was a product of collaboration by Paolo Morales' family's shared love for baking; it’s a slow and progressive story that began in Paolo’s childhood.

Paolo lived in a home surrounded by the smell of his mother’s pastries, witnessing the love and passion she had for baking. It all started with brownies that they would traditionally give out to friends and relatives every Christmas, hence being the pioneering pastry that built Baking Duck.

But it wasn’t just Paolo and his mother, this story also involved two of his cousins and his brother. The pandemic that reached its peak in early 2020 had a deeper impact on Paolo’s mother as she was close to retiring. This was when the puzzle pieces started fitting together perfectly: his mom loved baking and wanted to start a bakery business, and his cousins wanted to build their own pastry shop.

Paolo then thought, “Why not merge?” He proposed starting the baking business early to allow his mother to fulfill her baking dreams before officially retiring. They started selling online and the shop had been making great sales, but the pandemic's effects gradually subsided and the surge in orders from Instagram and Facebook Marketplace dwindled. This urged them to seek new avenues to maintain their momentum, so they decided to join bazaars and create a physical presence.

Joining bazaars increased their exposure, attracting customers from different locations and gaining a streamline of repeat and loyal customers. Their rich, high-quality pastries soon caught the attention of larger personalities and organizations which led to partnerships with coffee shops, solidifying their reputation as a trusted supplier!

After quite some time, Baking Duck decided to refocus on online sales and divert their energy to building their very own coffee shop in the future, slowly establishing a physical presence that permanently represents their identity as a pastry shop that brings joy and delicious treats.
