Like most self-made businesses, Better Options started small and simple. It began at home, was discovered for potential, and later retailed at gasoline station convenience stores. Soon enough, its gourmet food products can be purchased at local and international wholesale superstores.

Faye Diesta has been fond of cooking gourmet food since 2007. In the pandemic when most businesses were at their lowest to the point of stopping operations, Faye found it an opportunity to start a business instead. She found potential in her cooking and started selling her bottled gourmet food products at Shell convenience stores. 

After acquiring the required documents and officially getting her hands on an FDA license shortly after, her products have been made available to 6 supermarkets. She came up with the corporate name of Homemade Gourmet Ventures and a brand name of Better Options which her products are most known for. 

The reason why Faye’s business is unlike others is that it’s driven not only by the ambition to be known worldwide but also by its heart for the community. With her staff consisting mostly of women in the neighborhood, Faye prioritizes providing jobs especially for stay-at-home moms to help alleviate the difficulties of being in a financially challenging situation.  

Currently, Better Options has an ongoing negotiation with large-scale supermarkets such as Landers and S&R. Upon successful completion, Faye’s gourmet food will soon be purchased in these stores. Furthermore, Better Options will be up for exportation once documents for the US FDA license are secured.

This story of Faye Diesta is proof that a small business can flourish depending on the steps and decisions taken. With courage and self-belief, what once started in the familiarity of the kitchen can soon be known to the world. And eventually, making a good impact on the lives of those around becomes natural and gratifying.
