One of the best joys of cooking is experimenting with different ingredients and procedures and discovering a new and unique favorite. Just like any other recipe, you can also level up your usual bread pudding and turn it into donut pudding — or basically — bread pudding made from donuts! This is a fun way to revamp your favorite food into something new that the kids in the family will love.
Ingredients
For the Pudding:
Butter for the pan/tin
4 Donut Shack Classic Glazed Donuts, cubed
4 large eggs
2 tablespoons dark rum, or 1/2 teaspoon rum extract
1/2 teaspoon ground cinnamon
1/4 cup sugar
1 teaspoon vanilla extract
1 cup whole milk
3/4 cup heavy whipping cream
For the Icing:
1 cup confectioners' sugar, sifted
1 teaspoon vanilla extract
1 1/2 tablespoons hot water
Preparation
Directions
1. Preheat the oven to 350°F (175°C). Grease a 9-by-5-inch loaf pan with butter and fill it with the cubed doughnuts. Set aside.
2. In a mixing bowl, whisk together the eggs, rum, cinnamon, sugar, and vanilla extract until well blended. Add the milk and cream, and whisk again to combine. Pour this mixture over the doughnuts, turning the top pieces to ensure all the doughnuts are soaked.
3. Bake for 45 to 50 minutes or until the pudding is browned on top and firm in the center. Let it cool in the pan for 10 minutes.
4. While the pudding cools, prepare the icing: Whisk together the confectioners' sugar, vanilla extract, and hot water in a small bowl until smooth.
5. Serve the pudding in thick slices while still warm, then drizzle with icing.
